Acne & Acne Scars

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions, affecting individuals of all ages. It occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, leading to whiteheads, blackheads, or pimples. While acne primarily affects teenagers, it can persist or even start in adulthood. Various factors contribute to its development, including hormonal changes, stress, diet, and certain medications.

Acne scars are a frequent aftermath of severe acne. These scars occur when the acne penetrates deeply into the skin, causing damage. As the acne clears, the body attempts to repair this damage. During the healing process, collagen, a natural substance that gives the skin its firmness, is produced. If the body produces too little or too much collagen, scars can form. Acne scars can be atrophic (indented) or hypertrophic (raised).
